ITINERARY

Your private driving guide will pick you up at your hotel in Rome or at Civitavecchia dock and drive you to Manoppello, where you will visit the church of the sacred veil with the image of Christ that people have worshipped for more than 400 years. Stop on route for a quick lunch and continue to the town of Bolsena. There you visit the church where the Eucharistic miracle happened. You will then return to Rome or Civitavecchia dock.

DESCRIPTION
The Holy Face of Manoppello is a thin veil; the horizontal threads of the cloth are weaving and their framework is quite simple; the warp and the weft are not very visible to the naked eye: they interweave with one another forming a usual weaving. The image shows a male face with long hair and a beard parted in bands. It is the only case in the world where the image is visible on both sides of the cloth. As the Face of the Holy Shroud can be perfectly superimposed to the Holy Face of Manoppello, we must admit that the two Images formed at the same time. The Eucharistic miracle took place in the 8th century A.D. in the little Church of St. Legontian, as a divine response to a Basilian monk doubt about Jesus' real presence in the Eucharist. During Holy Mass, after the two-fold consecration, the host was changed into live Flesh and the wine was changed into live Blood, which coagulated into five globules, irregular and differing in shape and size.
